I have years of experience providing outplacement support, helping clients come back from redundancy with better jobs, more confidence and greater focus.

Re-booting after redundancy

On average, an individual is made redundant three times in their working life. In other words, you are not alone but equally, you need to distinguish yourself in the jobs market. Finding a new job after redundancy can be a daunting process, especially in this economic climate. You may be out of practice with interviews, have low self-esteem, feel unworthy, feel afraid to compete with others or simply be unsure which direction to take.

One-to-one redundancy coaching

I will expertly coach and support you to find a new job or possibly a new career through:

  • Confidence boosting exercises to reconnect with the working you, and skillful coaching to help identify the best jobs and how to market yourself most effectively to land them.

  • Top class CV, LinkedIn and cover letter writing help from a former journalist and experienced outplacement coach. The CV is the door opener, be sure to be selling yourself to the max. It needs to sum up the essence of who you are what you’ve done so you can feel proud and confident.

  • Up to the minute advice on the crucial job search methods. Target 70% of the jobs available that go unadvertised

  • Interview practice – professional help with competency interviews and new-style strength based interviews, plus what to expect from assessment centres.

These clients re-booted their careers following redundancy:

Jane, Andrew and Liam were all a little shell-shocked after being made redundant last year. I helped re-build their confidence, overcome recruitment obstacles, network effectively, recognise what they have to offer, and finally, think about what they wanted for the future. All are now doing jobs they love, in IT, publishing and financial services.

Redundancy coaching by Zoom or in person

It doesn’t matter where you live as I offer Zoom and phone coaching sessions at a time to suit you to make career or job change, build self-confidence and land top jobs.

  • “Helen is a fantastic leadership coach who has helped my transition to a portfolio NED. It’s been hugely beneficial to have her helping me – a sounding board, collaborator, supporter, mentor, coach, truth teller. I recommend everyone has someone like her on their side.”

Tina, NED and Strategic COO Advisor (Jan 2024)

  • “My coach, Helen Slingsby, has been wonderful! She is quick to respond, easy to set up meetings with (even last minute when things come up), flexible, and takes a very professional yet friendly and empathetic approach to meetings. She asks all the right probing questions, provides great resources, and has my best interests in mind.”

Anastasia, ex-schoolteacher, landed a job in the Ed-Tech sector (Jan 2024)

  • “I turned to Helen when I knew I needed a career change after twenty years working in an area I wasn’t really connecting with any more. I had no idea what else I might do, and my confidence was low. Helen worked with me to identify my transferable skills, and believe in my abilities, and I was able not only to shape what I wanted out of my next career but successfully move into a new field, all within a few months.”

Charlotte, ex-civil servant, now a Deloitte consultant (2022)

  • “After a spell of unsuccessful job hunting I made the decision to get help from a professional career coach and booked in a course of five sessions with Helen. I found a job even before my fifth session and don't doubt for a moment that this was the result of my increased confidence and better job seeking skills resulting from these sessions.”

    IT Specialist (Jan 2024)

  • “Having come to a career crossroads in my life, I felt I needed some support in defining what my real vocational passion was and in finding the best way to put it into practice.
